By Benedict Mukoni…………
“Blessed are the eyes that see what you see and the ears that hear what you hear because so many righteous people would have loved to hear this or to experience what you experienced and they did not.” This was the opening remark by the President of Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU), Fr. John Bosco Kamoga during the commissioning of the Inter-institutes Junior Religious Professed.
The commissioning ceremony took place at St. Mbaaga’s Major Seminary, Ggaba where Fr. Kamoga graced the event as the chief guest and the main celebrant of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on August 28, 2025.
Fr. Kamoga told the participants that consecrated persons have not been called to be successful but to be faithful. “When you are marching towards your perpetual definitive consecration to the Lord pray one thing that you may have the heart of Jesus. If you can do that then people who experience you as a religious person will not be left the same.”
He advised them that people will always don’t remember what you gave them but they remember how you made them feel and how you cared for them that you are able to see their tears. He emphasized that the little things we do for others make a difference not only to Catholics but all people of God; As long as you can make someone feel human, seen, appreciated and remembered.
“Let us go and profess final vows in love, goodness, kindness and mercy but not in wickedness.”
Fr. Kamoga appealed to the participants.
The new Assistant Secretary General of ARU, Sr. Dr. Justine Naluggya – LSOSF, reminded the participants that God has called them out of His love. He has called them as unworthy to make them worthy people and He allows them with His grace to fulfill His mission, she added.
According to Sr. Justine, God has called the participants in this Jubilee year to be witnesses of hope because they need to restore and give hope to people.
Sr. Justine enlightened the participants to be close to people since they are not consecrated for themselves, congregations or their families, but consecrated to be out of the service of people of God who need a listening heart.
With the invention of modern technology that is challenging, Sr. Justine advised the Junior Professed to always remain rooted in Christ and to let their identity as a consecrated person be vivid in any post, any moment, and any place they are blessed to serve
The inter-institutes national course is held annually organized by the Formation Ministry in Uganda (FoMRU), an arm of ARU with the intent to prepare the Junior Religious Professed for their perpetual vows or final vows.
