Immaculate Tusingwire, MMS………………………….

For the past good six years, Sr. Lydia Apili Bwor, LSMIG, has faithfully served the Association in the position of Secretary General. She accomplished her term of service on 21st June 2025 during the handover to the New Secretary General Sr. Jane Yatuha, OLGC.

Looking at her face during the handover, she radiated fulfilment, joy and peace as if she was quietly singing the ‘Nunc Dimittis’.

Sr. Lydia opened the handover event with prayer and gratitude to God for his faithfulness, love, mercy and grace which sustained her during the term of service since 2019. She extended gratitude to her congregation for the trust they put in her, to the previous and current executive committees, the three former presidents and the current, the Assistant Secretaries General with whom she worked and the support of all the program coordinators and support staff.

Present during the handover were ARU President Fr. Kamoga John Bosco C.S.Sp, members of the Executive Committee, two superior generals of the out-going and in-coming Secretaries General, Administrative team and other few members who were present to witness the hand-over.

Fr. Kamoga applauded Sr. Lydia for her spirit of Sacrifice especially the fact that when she was asked to take on this role, she was in the middle of her studies which she had to leave unfinished and come. He further thanked Sr. Lydia for adding a human heart to the Association, for she did not only work but made ARU a home.

Sr. Jane graciously received the handover report and other small items which Sr. Lydia handed over to her. She shared that at first, she had fears reflecting on the immense responsibility that lay ahead but she was consoled by realizing she is not alone in realizing the tasks ahead.

“This Hand-over is not only to me, but also to the members of the conference especially the administrative staff and that consoles me,” she said

Everyone presents truly expressed their gratitude to Sr. Lydia’s contribution to the conference and wished her well in her next assignment.

Sr. Jane has served as the Assistant Secretary General for the past one year and she too officially handed over to the new Assistant Secretary General Sr. Justine Naluggya, IHMR.

To the new Secretary General and the new Assistant Secretary General, as a food for the journey, Fr. Kamoga invited them to get accustomed to the systems and traditions of the conference and keep them working without becoming slaves to them.

“In a moment of anger, don’t act, don’t write and don’t talk in order not to react to situations but to respond”. He cautioned them.

He reminded them that they are not competitors but collaborators in the ministry, thus calling upon them to work together for the good of the conference and to remain authentic, generous and true to themselves and the Association.
