The Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU), was live on Radio Maria in view of the coming Golden Jubilee for the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA).
The celebrations will take place during the Plenary Assembly of AWECA from 18th August to 23rd August 2024 in Lilongwe, Malawi. The theme for the Plenary Assembly is: “Transformative holistic formation for authentic living towards a deeper evangelization in the ACWECA region and beyond.”
During the Radio Discourse under the Theme, ACWECA @50 in the spirit of synodality, Sr. Speranza Namusisi, the President of ARU and Sr. Lydia Apiri Bwor, the Secretary General of ARU discussed the history of ACWECA, the achievements and the benefits ARU enjoys as an Association under ACWECA. The two sisters who were hosted by Sr. Lilly Driciru and Sr. Immaculate Tusingwire, both ARU communicators, went ahead and invited all the people to pray for the sisters in the ACWECA Region as they look forward to the Plenary Assembly and the celebration of 50 years.
Founded in 1974, ACWECA is comprised of religious sister associations from ten countries: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. All members of the Church and people of goodwill are invited to celebrate with the Sisters in their evangelization ministry.
