Sr. Stella Watsema, National Coordinator, Religious Sisters Communicators Foundation – RSCF
The branch coordinators meeting at the Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU) intended to bring together the different branches in the country, share information and messages from the Superior Generals’ conference. They were reminded about the theme of the Jubilee year as A Call to Walking Together Towards Achieving Peace in Religious Communities. And to inform them about the vision and mission of the ARU.
Another reason for the meeting was to share about the Jubilee year. Coordinators were asked to share information with their members and participate in organizing the jubilee year celebrations at their different levels as ARU branches though most coordinators reported to have celebrated on the 2nd of February 2025 at the feast of the presentation.
In her sharing with branch coordinators, the Assistant Secretary General Rev. Sr. Dr Jane Yatuha- OLGC pointed out the main characteristics of pilgrims of hope:
The first characteristic she said was to live as pilgrims shifting mindset to adopt that we are not of this world but in the world and the world is not in us; Secondly, she said to live as pilgrims, there is a war to fight. The flesh and its passions. She said, “to be pilgrims of hope you have to speak for Jesus, have to be good servants, and need to be hospitable”. Rev. Sr. Dr Jane Yatuha once again called upon all branch coordinators and other religious men and women to read the The papal bull, titled “Spes Non Confudit,” meaning “Hope Does Not Disappoint,” that is: the document Pope Francis wrote for the celebration of the Jubilee year of Hope 2025. She ended by calling upon all consecrated people to be strong in hope, faith and Charity.
