A group of formators just completed a one-week workshop on Addition Management at the Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU) which run from 5th – 9th of August 2024.
Fr. Dr. Richard Kyazze, CSC, one of the facilitators believes that this workshop is highly important especially to the formators. He said that some young people come into religious life with a number of mental health issues due to several addictions. According to Fr. Kyazze, it is important that the formators become aware of this fact because when they are aware, they can quickly capture them, know how to prevent and manage them, and in turn create awareness.
Fr. Richard also celebrates the fact that almost every one these days has a smart phone which is instrumental in many ways and at the same time laments that this same technology can also be harmful in many ways especially when it comes to addictions. He hopes that this training can help formators so that they in turn, can help those in formation.

ARU arranges such workshops time and again because on-going holistic formation is one of ARU’s priorities
Brother Chrysostom Ahimbisibwe, Brothers of Christian Instruction, was also one of the facilitators. The participants, even though felt they needed more time than one week with this topic, expressed their gratitude to the two facilitators and recommended that more religious get this training
